DeWalt Heritage Center
A project of Fort Bend County and the Fort Bend History Association, the DeWalt Heritage Center is the history hub of east Fort Bend County!
The Hugh Sanders-Dew House, also known as the DeWalt Heritage Center, is currently located at 9555 Hwy 6 South, Missouri City, Texas 77459 in cozy Kitty Hollow Park. It was originally located three miles north, at 6626 Hwy 6 South, where it resided until 2006.
This house represents a way of life that existed throughout the county over a century ago. It was built around 1900 by Dr. Hugh Sanders Dew after the Galveston storm flattened most of Missouri City. The home was occupied by Dew relatives until the late 1960s, after the sudden passing of Jessie Dew Agnew.
The Dew House was moved to Kitty Hollow Park in 2006 and underwent intensive renovations until its opening to the public for tours in 2010. Today, the Dew House is known as the DeWalt Heritage Center, and hosts a plethora of tours and events monthly!
